Jacksonville, FL (April 5, 2018) – The Jacksonville Equestrian Center in Jacksonville, Florida is the place to be for horse lovers over the next couple of weeks as the much-anticipated Third Annual Jacksonville Spring Classic hunter/jumper series gets under way. Junior, amateur, and professional riders—between 300-500 of them—will vie for over $260,000 in prize money during the next two weeks of nail-biting competition. Admission is free for spectators who can expect to see hundreds of talented horses clearing impressively high jumps and negotiating tricky courses.
Produced by the Classic Company, hunter and jumper competition began with the Jacksonville Spring Classic I kicking off at 8:00 am on Wednesday April 4, 2018. The show will be in full swing on Saturday and Sunday this week, beginning at 8:00 am each day. Always exciting to watch, the highlight of both show weeks undoubtedly will be the $5,000 Classic Derby held on Friday as well as the $35,000 Regional Grand Prix on Saturday evening at 6:00 pm. In addition, show organizers have planned a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby held on the grass derby field on Friday, April 13, sponsored by Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club.
Northern Florida is typically bustling with equestrian activity, and this time of year many equestrians are trekking up the eastern seaboard after competing at the state’s popular winter show circuits. The Jacksonville Equestrian Center will greet competitors and spectators alike with an enormous indoor stadium, several outdoor rings, a derby field, over 400 permanent stalls, and 78 RV spaces with water and electric hook ups. The center is conveniently located within close proximity to hotels, restaurants, world-class golf, beaches, and downtown Jacksonville.
An ideal location for a show of this caliber, riders and spectators can count on state-of-the-art facilities, professional footing, and friendly, experienced staff. The Spring Classic is rated USEF JR/AM, USEF Level 3, USEF Premier, USEF Level 4, and offers Opportunity Classes for those riders who are not USEF members and want to compete at a USEF rated competition.
The Jacksonville Spring Classic is an entertaining event and the public is welcome to visit the equestrian center to experience all that is exciting about show jumping. Fun for the whole family, there is never a charge for admission and parking is also free of charge. VIP Tables for the Grand Prix are available each Saturday night, complete with hors d’oeuvres and open bar. Each year, the tables have sold out so please contact the office to reserve yours; proceeds go to charity.
